Tasca de Blanquerna, one of the Marc Fosh Restaurant Group, has been rewarded with the top prize in TaPalma 2011, Mallorca’s yearly tapas fair & competition.
The “TaPalma de Oro” was awarded to Tasca for the best Tapa “Slow cooked Iberian Pork with almond “Torrija” & soller orange compote” prepared by Head Chef, Carlos Abad. Congratulations to Carlos, Marco and all the team at Tasca.

Marc Fosh and Rob Bragagnolo create wonderfully delicious and refreshing cocktails at the Misa Bar, inside Misa Braseria at the Hotel Mision de Sant Miquel in Palma.
They celebrated the launch of the bar with a cocktail party which we went along to and told you about on Facebook!.
The cocktails are made using fresh ingredients and some super zingy anti oxidant fruit and vegetables!

Those of you who know or have heard of Benet Vicens, will know that he is the Chef and owner of Bens d’Avall Restaurant, the popular establishment located at a stunningly beautiful venue on the road between Deia and Soller. The food at Bens dAvall is quite simply, sublime. And to add to your enjoyment the restaurant has a very sophisticated wine selection featuring mostly Mallorcan wines to go with the mostly Mallorcan ingredients used in the kitchen.
If you don’t fancy the drive up there, however, you now have the opportunity of savouring a more informal version of Benet’s cuisine in the centre of Palma. The team has opened the Bens dAvall Mediterranean Bistro inside the stylish Club de Mar in Palma, with views of the boats and the bay of Palma. The restaurant is celebrating its 5th anniversary this month. We all know times have been difficult recently so it is great to see restaurants celebrating 5 years of successful business like this one.
Arume is an Asian themed restaurant, including sushi bar and signature cuisine by well known Chef Tomeu Marti. Tomeu likes to combine Asian and Mediterranean influences to create fusion style cuisine and incorporating the finest Japanese techniques using fresh fish. L’Arruzz Restaurant (previously known as Tapelia) in Palma de Mallorca is now offering a brand new TAPITAS menu in the evenings.

The Restaurant also has its own bar, the Misa Bar, which has a fantastic cocktails and drinks menu, as well as a snack menu, perfect for light lunches or afternoon snacks.

We have recently been to see our friend Stefano at La Baranda Restaurant in Sant Catalina (Calle Sant Magi).
The restaurant now has its very own, brand new wine bar, in the atmospheric basement which has been completely rennovated. The bar serves a large selection of wines and cocktails as well as a variety of miniature cuisine, mainly La Baranda dishes served in mini portions.
The wine bar at La Baranda allows for customers to come in for a drink and snack, stay for a full meal or just come in for a night cap!
This restaurant which was founded in 1994 by Bruno Farnochhia and his son Stefano, continues to delight customers on Sant Magi street in Santa Catalina with its Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.
Digui Restaurant in Palma, is one of the latest restaurant to be added to SkyBlueMallorca.com.
This restaurant, located on Avenida Comte Sellant, in the centre of Palma, also likes to call itself a ‘Tapas Workshop’ or ‘Taller de Tapas’.
The Tapas created here is unique and innovative. One of Digui’s tapas dishes, the ‘Empanada de frito mallorquin’ recently won Best Tapas in the first edition of the ‘Tapeo in Palma’ contest held in Palma in June 2011.

Huevos estrellados.
The Chef, the talented Ivan Gonzalez Medina worked at one of Madrid’s best known restaurants, Casa Lucio, for over two years. One of Casa Lucio’s star dishes is Huevos Estrellados, which is literally eggs fried and mixed with fresh chips.
When Ivan opened his own restaurant here in Mallorca, in the popular and trendy neighborhood of Santa Catalina, he decided to serve his own version of the dish, ‘huevos estrellados Casa Lucio’. Look for it on the menu as the ‘Classic Egg dish, Casa Lucio style’.
He serves it as is, or with added ingredients of sobrassada or foie, and they are all quite simply, delicious!
Not many people know that you can enjoy Vietnamese cuisine in Mallorca, but those who do, go to Viet nam Cafe in Plaza Progreso, just above the popular area of Santa Catalina.
Vietnamese cuisine is extremely low in fat, but also very tasty, and Antonio, the owner of this restaurant, fell in love with it after a trip to Vietnam in 2004.
At Vietnam cafe the Chefs are Vietnamese, as are alot of the key ingredients. But the rest of the products are fresh and seasonal.
There is a great value menu of the day for 14 euros, and the restaurant can cater for company lunches or special ocassions, when booked in advance.

Es Balco is run by Toni Bartel and Begoña Arguimbau, who worked together previously at the well known Malvasia Restaurant which was owned and run by Joan Olives; a renowned and respected personality within the food & wine industry here in Mallorca.
Joan Olives has now unfortunately passed away and his restaurant Malvasia duly closed. But he haa a profound influence on many people including Toni and Begoña, and they owe a lot of their recipes and cooking style to Joan.
Es Balco (which means balcony in Catalán) serves the traditional Balearic cuisine which Joan used to create so artfully at Malvasia.
Wasabi, the popular chain of Japanese restaurants (‘made in Mallorca’) are now offering a franchise option.

On the 7th of October 2010 the 2010 edition of TaPalma 2010 begins. Palma’s popular Tapas festival will this year last until the 11th of October and is separated into five ‘Tapas routes’ across the city.
This is Palma’s most dynamic food festival and allows visitors to walk through the city stopping at participating restaurants to try tapas dishes at very affordable prices.

Es Porxo Eatery in Palma had been closed during August, but is now open again for business.
Es Porxo used to be a guest house and has now been converted into a cosy eatery. The cuisine is typical Mallorcan and International.
There are 43 off set lithographs of Picasso on display at Es Porxo; preparatory sketches that the artist made for his famous work of art ‘Guernica’. An exclusive collection which will attract many visits.

The Fosh Food Group has recently reinvented its establishment in Calle Blanquerna (previously known as Fosh Food) and it is now a Spanish Regional Restaurant called Tasca de Blanquerna.
Chef and co founder Marc Fosh has always had a passion for traditional food from all the regions in Spain and has developed a long list of his own recipes, which always have a healthy touch to them.
