Some of the restaurants on the island featured on the program were Ca Na Toneta Restaurant in Caimari and Es Moli d’en Bou Restaurant in Sa Coma. Well done to them and to everyone involved in this great project!

Now available: A tasting menu at Can March

Can March restaurant is a must-visit in Manacor. In fact, it is worth going to Manacor just to have lunch there. And now you have even more reason to do so.

Our friends, Miquel and Tolo, the team of brothers which run Can March have recently let us know that they are now offering a Tasting Menu. The menu comprises 7 courses and costs just 28 euros. It changes every week according to the seasonal produce available and is available every day except Sunday.

The cuisine at Can March is based on Mallorcan and Mediterranean seasonal produce and tradition but also includes an element of creative fusion – Miquel the chef never fails to surprise and creates delicious cuisine all year round.

New: Bens d’Avall Mediterranean Bistro in Palma

One of the best and most well known of Mallorca’s chefs: Benet Vicens, someone SkyBlue Mallorca has been following for a number of years now, and a firm believer in local seasonal produce and sustainable production methods, has just opened a new restaurant in Palma.

Those of you who know or have heard of Benet Vicens, will know that he is the Chef and owner of Bens d’Avall Restaurant, the popular establishment located at a stunningly beautiful venue on the road between Deia and Soller. The food at Bens dAvall is quite simply, sublime. And to add to your enjoyment the restaurant has a very sophisticated wine selection featuring mostly Mallorcan wines to go with the mostly Mallorcan ingredients used in the kitchen.

If you don’t fancy the drive up there, however, you now have the opportunity of savouring a more informal version of Benet’s cuisine in the centre of Palma. The team has opened the Bens dAvall Mediterranean Bistro inside the stylish Club de Mar in Palma, with views of the boats and the bay of Palma. Look out for more information about this new venue coming soon on SkyBlue Mallorca.

Organic produce on the Islands to lose its recognition

It has come to SkyBlue Mallorca’s attention that the regional association which certifies and controls organic products on the islands is in danger of disappearing.

The CBPAE was set up to control and label products claiming to be organic or ecological produced or grown here on the islands. This is currently the only official way Balearic products can claim organic or ecological status and print this on their labels for view when on sale.

The current economic crisis has meant that the CBPAE will soon be closed down, leaving producers and customers without any proper regulations when it comes to selling or identifying local organic produce.

News from Casal Santa Eulalia Restaurant

On a recent visit to the north of the island we stopped by Casal Santa Eulalia Restaurant in Can Picafort to catch up with Chef Marcos Blanco and his team. We even stayed to enjoy al fresco dining under the stars at one of their bi-weekly barbecues. – It was delicious and such a great atmosphere too!

The barbecues are held on Mondays and Wednesdays.

On Mondays it’s a meat barbecue, starting with tapas of the day which change every week. Next up is the Mallorcan black pork fillets, homemade sauces and bread made using organic flour, amongst many other specialties – a truly delicious dinner.

On Wednesdays, it’s a fish and seafood barbecue, with seafood tapas and pan-cooked fish and seafood with fresh home-grown vegetables. And for a very special touch, Ametla+ condiments are used, made exclusively from Mallorcan almonds.

Another new development at this restaurant is the organic bread made there. The restaurant makes a different type of bread every day of the week. They work with seven different varieties, all made using local organic flour. Healthy and delicious!
