Our tasty Calamares dish at Sa Sinia

On one of our recent trips to Portocolom we were lucky enough to try a really tasty calamares (squid) dish at Sa Sinia Restaurant.

Sa Sinia Restaurant in Portocolom is one of the most established and well known in the area, given that Juan Ramón’s family started running it for the first time in 1969.

Now the restaurant specialises in fish, seafood and Mediterranean cuisine, including fish and lobster stews and catch of the day.

The menus at Sa Sinia are designed by Miguel Barcelo, a famous local artist.

New wine bar in town! La Baranda

We have recently been to see our friend Stefano at La Baranda Restaurant in Sant Catalina (Calle Sant Magi).

The restaurant now has its very own, brand new wine bar, in the atmospheric basement which has been completely rennovated. The bar serves a large selection of wines and cocktails as well as a variety of miniature cuisine, mainly La Baranda dishes served in mini portions.

The wine bar at La Baranda allows for customers to come in for a drink and snack, stay for a full meal or just come in for a night cap!

This restaurant which was founded in 1994 by Bruno Farnochhia and his son Stefano, continues to delight customers on Sant Magi street in Santa Catalina with its Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.

Digui Restaurant – Innovative Tapas

Digui Restaurant in Palma, is one of the latest restaurant to be added to SkyBlueMallorca.com.

This restaurant, located on Avenida Comte Sellant, in the centre of Palma, also likes to call itself a ‘Tapas Workshop’ or ‘Taller de Tapas’.

The Tapas created here is unique and innovative. One of Digui’s tapas dishes, the ‘Empanada de frito mallorquin’ recently won Best Tapas in the first edition of the ‘Tapeo in Palma’ contest held in Palma in June 2011.

Summertime events at Valldemossa Hotel

The beautiful Valldemossa Hotel in Valldemossa (a spectacular mountain village in Mallorca where Chopin famously spent a winter with his lover, the writer George Sand), has a variety of events scheduled to run throughout the summer.

These events are a great excuse for visiting this beautiful place. Combine them with a visit to the village, where you can wander around the quaint cobbled streets and visit the Real Cartuja, where Chopin stayed.

The events at Valldemossa hotel feature live music and include a special Mallorcan Menu on Thursday evenings and a Jazz Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
